Rosemary Clarke

Chair of Planning Committee

Rosemary's bio:

Joined Clanfield Parish Council in May 2015

Serves on Planning Committee, Community and Environment Committee (and Community Working Group)

I have lived in Clanfield, apart from a short break, since 1963 - we were one of many naval families - attending Clanfield County Primary School, the only village school at the time. Happy memories, including defrosting the school milk on the classroom boiler in winter and walking past thatched cottages on the way to and from school. The village has obviously changed enormously but remains a safe community.

Working for East Hampshire District Council for thirty-four years as part of the planning support team until being retired in 2014, I was latterly involved with the development of the online planning service and providing work experience for graduates - an innovative and rewarding time.

Clanfield is well catered for when it comes to sporting activities for all ages, including a skatepark. I feel we must now provide for the arts and other interests and give a voice to the young people in our community, particularly those who are not necessarily 'joiners' and those with caring responsibilities.

I have a strong interest in youth and environmental issues so believe protecting our wildlife and heritage are of paramount importance including historical research, particularly World War One.
