Peter Hurst

Peter's bio:

I moved into Clanfield in 2004 and joined the Parish Council in September 2018.

I spent nearly 40 years teaching in comprehensive schools, my main subject being mathematics. During my career I managed to be involved in some volunteer activities including working on the governing bodies of two schools, I was also one of many volunteers assisting with the Clanfield Pond. When I retired I was invited to do some work for the University of Chichester. This has mainly been lecturing in mathematics and working with trainee teachers and school mentors.

I have a number of interests and semi-retirement has given me the opportunity to get further involved in a range of voluntary activities. I am a Volunteer Ranger at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, and also supported their Ugandan Project. I was a volunteer for the Para-Olympic Games, the World Athletics, the World Para-Athletics and the Americas Cup. I am the Vice Chair of Governors for Mill Chase Academy.

I started running just before my 60th birthday and will be running the Great South for the second time in 2018, in 2017 I ran the Clanfield Challenge, plus a few shorter events. I enjoy skiing and look forward to 2 or 3 visits to the mountains during the ski season.
