Peter Hurst

Councillor

Peter's bio:

I moved into Clanfield in 2004. I am delighted to live in Clanfield, and enjoy both running and walking around our village, and enjoy the numerous beautiful views.

I joined the Parish Council in September 2018. I serve on the following working groups: “Down Farm Barn” and “Finance and General Purposes”. I am a Trustee for South Lane Meadow.

I spent nearly 40 years teaching in comprehensive schools, my main subject being mathematics. During my career I managed to be involved in some volunteer activities including working on the governing bodies of two schools, I was also one of many volunteers assisting with the Clanfield Pond. When I retired I was invited to do some work for the University of Chichester, which I continue to enjoy.

I have a number of interests and semi-retirement has given me the opportunity to get further involved in a range of voluntary activities. These include Volunteer Ranger at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Para-Olympic Games, World Athletics, World Para-Athletics and Americas Cup. I am the Vice Chair of Governors for an Academy.

I started running just before my 60th birthday and will be running the Great South for the third time in 2019, I have also managed to complete the Clanfield Challenge on two occasions. I enjoy skiing and look forward to 2 or 3 visits to the mountains during the ski season.
