New improved services for people needing urgent health care are available in east Hampshire.
NHS urgent care services are facing unprecedented demand, but Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) like the one at Petersfield Community Hospital can help you get the treatment you need for a range of issues - and avoid queues at Emergency Departments
The UTC is run by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. It is GP-led and staffed by a multi- disciplinary team of health professionals.
People who previously had to travel to receive urgent care can now go to Petersfield, instead of travelling further in either direction along the A3(M) – also relieving pressure elsewhere in the NHS.
The UTC is open 8am-8pm 365 days a year.
Staff can treat include strains and sprains, skins infections and rashes, ear and throat infections, suspected broken limbs, eye problems, emergency contraception, minor injuries, minor burns and many other conditions. X-ray facilities are available Monday to Friday. For details, click here.
Patients are encouraged to routinely access the service via NHS 111 – online or phone - and will receive pre-booked same-day appointments if appropriate. Walk-in patients without appointments will be clinically assessed by a triage nurse or other health professional.
