Clanfield Parish Council now owns the Bowls Green, the Sports Pavilion and the Car Park at St James Place. The transfer from the developers, BDW Trading Limited, which was completed today, also includes open space fronting Chalton Lane and Green Lane. This is from, but not yet including, the sports pitches at the eastern, uphill end and as far as the junction with Down View Way on the western side but currently excluding the Crimea Barn.
The transfer of the Crimea Barn to the Parish Council is expected to take place soon and the largest parcel of land comprising the sports pitches, a children’s play area and an extensive area of parkland, including allotments, at the top of the site will follow in 2019.
Speaking about today’s news, Terry Collins, Chairman of the Parish Council, said:
“In the same week as the Grand Opening of the Community and Sports Centre, this is another big step forward in delivering superb community facilities to the village. We are now concluding arrangements with the Bowls Club and they can plan their opening confidently knowing that all will be ready in good time for the 2019 season. The views from there are quite exceptional - it will be a fantastic venue.”
In the next couple of months, the Parish Council’s contractors will be carrying out various works prior to the Bowls Club taking occupation of the Bowls Green and the Pavilion. These works will include extending the car park and constructing an equipment store at the rear of the Pavilion. Planning permission for both was granted in late 2017 / early 2018. All news
