Clanfield Street Watch is a Hampshire Police and community partnership initiative that supports Clanfield residents engaging in community civilian street patrols.

Street Watch is a proven programme working elsewhere in the country and is a natural extension to schemes such as Neighbourhood Watch.

Street Watch volunteers are ordinary citizens with no police powers. If they see anything suspicious, all they are asked to do is report it to the police. They can also give active support to the community by providing reassurance and a visible presence to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. High-visibilty jackets with Hampshire Police and Streetwatch logos are provided.

Groups of 2/3 are managed by a co-ordinator who keeps a list of volunteers and provides advice, guidance and support in consultation with the local police.

Street Watch is not run by the police but works in partnership with the support of the police. The ethos of this partnership is central to the foundation and existence of the organisation.

The purpose of Street Watch is:

To prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring and cohesive community and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness. We talk to people encouraging them to take an active interest in our village.

To assist the police by promoting effective communication and to prompt reporting of any activity that gives rise to concern.

To reduce undue fear of crime by providing accurate information about risks and by promoting a sense of security and community spirit, particularly amongst the more vulnerable members of the community.

If you are interested in joining our Street Watch and are able to provide a minimum 2 hours per month please email:
