The Parish Council, in conjunction with the Bowls Club, won the Best Community Facility award for the "Fullers Village of the Year 2019".

It has been well publicised that The Clanfield Bowls & Sports Club (Bowls Club) has been a resounding success within the village and has quickly become a social hub. This has attracted the attention of Bowls England as this bucks the national trend where bowls clubs are closing, and they want to understand why this club is successful.

Earlier this year the Parish Council, in conjunction with the Bowls Club, submitted an application for the award for the "Fullers Village of the Year 2019" in the category of Best Community Facility. This is a competition run by Hampshire Association of Local Councils (HALC), sponsored by Fullers Brewery, and attracts nominations from the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The Parish Council and Bowls Club hosted a visit from the evaluation team in August and gave a very compelling story regarding the development and role of the new Bowls Club in the Clanfield community.

The award ceremony took place last week in Chandlers Ford, and much to our surprise and delight the Bowls Club won the Best Community Facility award.

This accolade has only been made possible by the vision of of Clanfield Parish Council in providing such a wonderful social hub in this lovely village, coupled with the passion and enthusiasm of the Trustees, Committee and volunteer members of the club since it opened in April.
